First of all, I have to say, what an amazing event! MommyCon finally came to Florida, and I'm so glad that it did! What is MommyCon you ask? It's a conference for mommies (and dad's too). The day was packed with workshops, speakers and exhibits filled with products to look at, try and buy. A fun part about this conference is that you can bring your child. There were babies everywhere. I will say, bringing my 3 year old was a little more on the adventurous side because she is not as easily entertained. Anyway, I'll give you a run-through of the day, exciting things I learned, and products you can enjoy!
Family Yoga- A Playful Practice We (Cece and I) started off the day with a Family Yoga session presented by Our Family Yoga. It was a great way to start the day. I realized that yoga can be done together as a family and in the home. The quote that I took away from this session was "Be OK with the chaos and embrace the chaos. You can do yoga in a family way." Kristina showed us different poses you can do with a baby, and or while pregnant. In my case, I had my daughter do the poses as best she could right along with everyone else. |
Playing With Enthusiasm Another Workshop that we went to was all about play! Ms. Ashley showed us many, hands on activities that can be done with little ones under 5. One of my favorites were the sensory things that she had. She had a few different sensory stations and the kids would rotate when the song changed. Sensory stations included:

Ms Ashley (pictured to the right) broke up the session with reading "Llama Llama Red Pajama" to bring the kids back down from all of their sensory play. She also recommend a couple books for adults as a guide for playing with your little ones. Here are two books I plan to purchase that are more about play: |

Onto the Exhibits!
Then there were ALL of the exhibits. My first stop, the Babywearing Lounge. I was able to get a little one-on-one lesson from Angelique Geehan. She is a certified babywearing educator, presented at the Babywearing 101 class and was a huge help. I'm very new to wrapping, and she came to the rescue. She worked with me on my rucksack carry and before I knew it, Cece was asleep!!

I have no idea how I walked out of this place without a new carrier, but somehow I managed to. Now I'm sad I did. I was able to try on the Beco Toddler (below) and fell in love!! I'm now in search of it... Here are some of the specs:
*Hopefully I'll be making a purchase soon for a full review.
- 20-60 Lbs!
- 18" wide and 19.5" tall
- Comparable to the toddler Tula but has a more contoured seat
- Has a pocket too!
*Hopefully I'll be making a purchase soon for a full review.
Something I did end up purchasing was a set of child dishes made by Re Play. All of their dishes are made from recycled milk jugs. Also to note, they are BPA free and FDA approved. A local company to Winter Park, Florida, these are made in the U.S. Cece loved the sippy cup (we used it right away after washing it out) and I will be ordering some more snack packs. They stack/attach together for easy travel. Not only does their site have their products but a Blog section that has crafts, recipes, and DIY projects. I love that this company is more then it's product, but an informative and fun experience for families.
The Goody Bag Loot!
I should have arranged this better, but MommyCon takes a lot out of you and I couldn't wait to open all of the new products when I got home. It was like my own personal baby shower.
