I am thankful for my daughter's beautiful hair, but her hair and I certainly have a love/hate relationship. Let's be real... toddler hair can get mangey then add tons of curls to the situation... leads to a lot of maintenance. Those of you with curly hair toddlers know what it looks like upon morning wake up... (exhibit 1 below)

I've been in a quandary- to cut or not to cut her hair. My thinking is just get it trimmed and grow the curls in hopes that the weight of the curls may relax them a little and I can always pull her hair back. That is my current plan, and I'm sticking' to it... for now. SO the question is how to maintain these lovely locks?
I've tried many things and wanted to go the all natural rout but nothing was working. I tried just water, a little bit of coconut oil etc... etc... I've turned to product for the time being as I research more natural products. Here they are:
- Johnson's kids detangling spray
- Dove nourishing curls whipped cream mousse
- A big comb
Here are the steps I took today:
- Step 1: Prepare the environment for happy hairdo-ing. I put Mickey Mouse on the TV and gave Cece a comb to "help" with. We also sang "comb your hair" to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle
- Step 2: Spray lots of no more tangles all over. This can also be done with water.
- Step 3: comb through hair starting at the ends and work your way up. Add water/detangler as needed.
- Step 4: Put a small amount of mousee (probably the size of a nickel or quarter depending on length) on your fingertips. Work it into the ends of the hair.
- Step 5: Scrunch and twist hair as needed and add a little bow!
There you go!
I was able to achieve this look for Cece in about 7 minutes total. I think I can wake up 7 minutes earlier every day for the sake of better looking curls! Maybe with practice I can get it down to 5 minutes!
I would LOVE to know your curl taming tips so shoot them my way! I'm open to trying more natural products etc...
Have a great day! Cheers to good hair!
