The first thing on the list... I will be having brain surgery in 2 weeks. It's been a tough thing to grasp, but it needs to be done. About 2 years ago I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation 1. I've been seeing a wonderful Neurosurgeon in Orlando who specializes in Chiari. With increased symptoms and information from a CSF Flow Study (a really long MRI), we came to the conclusion that surgery will be the way to go. This will decompress the portion of my brain (cerebellum) that is dipping into my spinal canal blocking the flow of spinal fluid to the brain. Hopefully after everything is said and done, my symptoms will decrease and it will prevent further damage in the future. | Florida Hospital in Orlando where surgery will be |
Many people have kindly asked a way to help our family. I am not one to admit we need help, but with this situation, the balance of daily life will really be thrown off and not all tasks will be done. Hubby Scott is so wonderful and will be taking time off to help, and we will also have help of many family members. Meals will be something that will get pushed down on the "to do" list. My sister was so kind to have set up a Meal Train for us. We humbly appreciate any and all help during this time. |
I want to thank my husband for his dedication, hard work (both professionally and at home) and unwavering strength for this family. He is the wind in our sail that keeps this ship going. My kids- through all the messes and unexpected happenings that kids bring, they keep us smiling every single day. Having my parents encouragement and support has not been taken for granted. It makes me tear up knowing how amazing they are, and I hope to be there for my kids as they are for me. Our entire family has always been near and dear to our hearts and it's amazing to know that both close and across miles they are there for us. And to our friends... "who understand our past, believe in our future and accept us today the way we are." We are fortunate to have a community of friendships surrounding us. |
