As we get closer and closer to our little boy's due date, I keep thinking of more and more things we need to do. When we had our daughter, I found out very late in the game that it was customary to give your labor and delivery nurses a gift of some sort. We scrambled and got a big box of chocolates and a card. I felt so guilty that I didn't know ahead of time that it's the "thing to do." It makes sense, because those nurses are a savior!!! To all the nurses I know... THANK YOU for EVERYTHING you do! You deserve much more then tokens of appreciation. Your work is priceless and makes a difference in so many people's lives.
This time around, I was able to get my act together and I wanted to share what I got for them. I tried to think of items nurses may use during the day and came up with these:
This time around, I was able to get my act together and I wanted to share what I got for them. I tried to think of items nurses may use during the day and came up with these:
- Crystal Light water flavoring
- Skinny Girl Sparkling drinks
- GermX Sanitizer
- Assorted Ghirardelli Chocolates
- Colored pens
- Sharpies
- Expo dry erase markers (I don't know if they NEED these, but the nurses are always writing on the white board important information)
- Twizzlers
- Orbit Gum
- GermX Towletts
- Calming Face Masks
- Chap Sticks
I got a large bowl and placed tissue paper at the bottom, then placed all of the items in. I also got enough items that the nurses can share with each other. I don't know how many nurses we will have, so I tried to get a few of everything.
Burlap central! I decided to go big on the bow to complete the clear cellophane that went on the outside. I was able to print a "thank you" tag (here) and wrote "Thank you for taking such good care of us, <3 The Lyons Family"
I hope our nurses enjoy some of these goodies. We certainly appreciate and are grateful for their hard work and the amazing care they will provide while we are at the hospital.
OK baby boy, we are ready for you!
Cheers!
