Growing up my mom did a TON of sewing. She had her own business selling winter hats and a patented pattern! I'm so lucky she taught me the basics of sewing so that I can make small alterations, simple pillow case dresses, regular pillow cases and now transform baby carriers!
Today's project I was able to complete during nap time, so it didn't take that long and was fun to do.
I purchased this Infantino Mei Tai with the intention to change the panel on it. I love the mei tai style carrier because it is easy to tie, lightweight to bring along and versatile for many ages. I anticipated this sewing project for awhile, worried I would mess it up. The Infantino is a rather budget friendly carrier, but I still didn't want to ruin something that hasn't even been used yet!

I contemplated fabrics for awhile, but found a couple that I liked at Joann's today. I only purchased half a yard for each fabric.
I cut the panel so that it was an inch wider then the original panel all the way around. I folded and ironed the edges then pinned them right over the original panel. I then sewed all the way around the edge with a straight stitch... rather wide too.
Add some snaps or velcro to the drool pads and it's done!
There ya have it! It's not perfect by all means, but I'm happy with how it turned out. :) Have fun with your creations!
