OK I don't know if "perfect" is a little over the top, but this recipe is pretty darn good! I've tried several techniques in making iced coffee over the years including a coffee machine that "brewed iced coffee." The thing I learned and it's the most important part of the whole process... COLD BREW the iced coffee for it to taste authentic and not watered down. This all lead me to purchasing this Primula French Press from amazon ($10.99). I figured for around $10 thats similar to 2-3 drinks from Starbucks so I might as well give it a try.
So, here is the recipe:
You Will Need:
What To Do:
You Will Need:
- French Press
- 2/3 cups ground coffee of your choice (I chose Starbucks Cafe Verona because it's dark and decaf.)
- 3 cups of water
- Half and Half or Milk
- Simple syrup
- Ice
What To Do:
- Measure out your coffee and put it in the french press.
- Pour water over the top and stir
- Place in the refrigerator overnight with the press in the UP position.
- Once that is in, make your simple syrup. I made extra to have on hand. All you do is boil 1 part water and 1 part sugar until it's a clear liquid. (I did 2 cups of water and 2 cups of sugar).
- Once the simple syrup cools place in the refrigerator as well.
- Go to bed
- When you wake up, you can press the coffee.
- Pour some simple syrup (to taste- I did about 3-4 Tbs.), Ice and half and half or milk in a cup, stir and add ice.
- ENJOY!
